Every public relations practitioner should know that writing well is a must to be successful in the field. That's why I emphasize to my students that they must make every effort to improve their writing skills. I give them lots of assignments to help them with this. For example, this summer my public relations writing class have been assigned to set up and write weekly in their blogs about topics of their choice. Writing for social media is not new for them because they use twitter, facebook and other such tools. But I think they would agree that it takes discipline to write without typos, grammar/punctuation errors and other mistakes.
I completely agree. I think it's important that we become strong writers especially as public relations students. But unforntunately due to social networking sites, some of us have become lazy in our writings. I hope by the time of my graduation, my writing will improve and I'll be able to write with confidence.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you as well. Writing is important. Lately with technology being the way it is, it has made us as people lazy. I think society as a whole should get back to stressing the importance of being able to write well.
